火山灰質黒ボク土が主体で、ミネラル分に富んでいます。適度な排水性を備え、冷涼地での葡萄栽培に適した土壌構成です。

VITICULTURE

Farming

Kubojin district of Kaminoyama, Yamagata (220 m elevation), southeast-facing slope. Started in 2019. About 1 ha of clay soil; no herbicides. Whites (Delaware, Sauvignon Blanc, Kerner, Albariño, Petit Manseng, Viognier) and reds (Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon) are grown.

BACKGROUND

From Osaka. As a sommelier, he gained wine-service experience in Osaka, Monaco, Australia, and elsewhere. On a 2015 working holiday in Australia, he trained at Curly Flat Winery in Victoria and discovered the joy of winemaking. Back in Japan, after experience at Katsunuma Jozo (Yamanashi), Don & Kindeli / Devotus (New Zealand), and GRAPE REPUBLIC (Yamagata), he launched the wine brand DROP based in Kaminoyama, Yamagata, in 2019.

Sommelier (wine service in Osaka, Monaco, and Australia).
