BACKGROUND
After completing graduate studies at Yamanashi University's brewing research institute, he began making wine in the Tsugane district of Hokuto, Yamanashi, in 1999, planting Merlot at 800 m elevation. He founded his winery in 2008. Together with Akito Kido of Kido Winery and Akihiko Soga of Obuse Winery, he is counted among the 'Usuke Boys.' From growing to vinification and bottling, the work is almost entirely by hand, with no chemical fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides.
