NAGANO

Nagano

Surrounded by the Japanese Alps, Nagano's inland elevation creates dramatic diurnal temperature shifts that concentrate flavors and preserve natural acidity. One of Japan's most prolific wine regions.

Inland climate — hot summers but cool nights, with low rainfall and long hours of sunshine.

Grape growing dates to the Meiji era, and the Shiojiri district has an especially long winemaking tradition. In recent years, a shift toward natural farming and winemaking has advanced.
